This challenging role is at the forefront of gene regulation, developing solutions for gene therapy to treat CNS related disorders. As technical lead for the CNS, you will develop approaches to identify regulatory sequences to build synthetic promoters and gene expression cassettes collaborating with the Design and Bioinformatics teams. You will lead global projects with commercial and academic partners applying your background in neuro-developmental biology to create novel gene control solutions from concept through to preclinical studies. In vivo studies will typically be carried out with both industry and academic collaborators. It will be essential to be fully abreast of technical developments in the field participating in international conferences and keeping up to date with literature.
To be considered for this position candidates must be educated to PhD level in a relevant scientific subject. This educational background will be coupled with substantial research experience in CNS/neurosciences. Candidates will demonstrate a strong molecular background and will have covered areas such as gene regulation, signal transduction pathways, promotor design or transcription profiling, within the CNS fields.
- Experience with a variety of and molecular biology techniques, such as cloning, RT-PCR, transcription profiling, assay development.
- Experience in cell culture techniques (mammalian cell lines and/or primary cells)
- Understanding of bioinformatics and genomic data
- In-vivo work
- Exposure to the gene therapy industry or AAV vectors
